Essential operation and security

WordPress, IONOS and connected security or performance services may use technologies needed to deliver pages, balance traffic, prevent abuse and support administrator login. Essential technologies cannot normally be switched off through a site preference because the requested service would not work properly. Administrator-login cookies are not relevant to ordinary readers.

Audience measurement

Jetpack may provide aggregate information such as page views, referrers, approximate location and device type so that we can understand what readers find useful. We aim to use the least intrusive configuration available. Where measurement does not meet a legal exception, it will require the appropriate permission before use. Where an exception applies, we will provide a simple way to object when required.

Email forms

Kit supplies the IoT Heart Briefing form and may use technical information required to display, protect and process the form, record consent and attribute a sign-up. Newsletter subscriptions use double opt-in. Details of subscriber processing appear in our Privacy Policy.

Affiliate links and external services

When affiliate links are introduced, a link may include a referral identifier so a merchant can recognise that IoT Heart referred the visit or sale. The merchant or affiliate network may set cookies after you follow the link. Those services control their own technologies and policies. Embedded video, audio, maps or social content may behave as though you visited the provider directly and can use that provider’s technologies. We will avoid privacy-intrusive embeds where a simple link or privacy-enhanced option is practical.

• Where optional technologies require permission, the site will present an appropriate control before they are enabled.
• You can delete or block cookies using your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect site functions.
• You can avoid third-party affiliate or embedded-content technologies by not following or activating that content.

Changes and review

We will review the site’s technologies when new analytics, advertising, affiliate, e-commerce or embedded services are introduced, and at least annually. This page will be updated when the categories or purposes change materially.
