IoT Heart exists to make connected technology clearer and more useful. This policy explains how we research, review, correct and fund our work.

Editorial purpose

We publish explanations, implementation guides, market analysis, product reviews and practical resources for engineers, product teams, founders and interested consumers. We aim to distinguish evidence from opinion, explain uncertainty and write for the reader rather than the vendor.

How reviews and recommendations are produced

• Method: each review will say whether it is based on hands-on testing, a demonstration, desk research, supplier material, interviews or a stated combination.
• Evidence: material factual claims should be checked against primary sources, repeatable observations or clearly attributed specialist sources.
• Fit: recommendations will identify the intended user and use case, not assume one product is best for everyone.
• Trade-offs: meaningful limitations, drawbacks, dependencies, geographic restrictions and total-cost considerations should be included.
• Currency: articles should show their publication or update date. Specifications, prices, availability and terms can change, so readers should confirm critical details with the provider.

IoT Heart will not describe a product as tested, used or experienced unless that is true. Supplier claims are not treated as independent evidence simply because they are published.

Affiliate links and advertising

IoT Heart may earn money when a reader buys or signs up through certain links. This does not add a charge for the reader. A commercial link or associated passage will be identified clearly before or when it is encountered, using plain wording such as:

If an article is wholly commercial or was commissioned by a sponsor, it will be labelled clearly as an advertisement or sponsored content before the reader engages with it. A site-wide policy is not a substitute for an article-level disclosure.

Free products, access and sponsorship

Free or discounted products, event travel, extended trials, paid access, consultancy relationships and other material connections will be disclosed in the relevant content. Acceptance of access or a sample does not guarantee coverage or a positive verdict. Where practical, review samples will be returned, donated or retained only for continuing comparison and clearly recorded.

Independence and conflicts

Editorial conclusions are set by IoT Heart. A partner may check confidential or technical facts before publication, but may not approve the verdict or remove a fair criticism. Relevant employment, investment, advisory, family or supplier relationships will be disclosed. If a conflict cannot be managed transparently, we will not publish the recommendation.

AI-assisted work

IoT Heart may use artificial-intelligence tools to help research, organise, illustrate or draft material. AI output is not treated as evidence. Material prepared with AI assistance must be reviewed, edited and approved by a human before publication, and important facts should be checked against reliable sources. Synthetic or materially altered media will be labelled when a reasonable reader could otherwise mistake it for documentary evidence.

Corrections and updates

Accuracy matters more than preserving an old version. Material errors will be corrected promptly and significant corrections should be noted in the article.
